  • Writing as a medium for self-discipline
  • We need to be more precise which leads to clearer thinking
  • Context matters. Share ideas, iterate and collaborate.
  • Encourage more writing, so people get more practice.
  • Typos within the team, fine. A week of writing and re-writing for broader communication more appropriate.
  • Search
  • We should be able to write without worrying where to put it or how to find it.

  • This removes roadblocks and creates a single source of truth.

  • Async/Sync Communication
  • Written can be good, but it can get verbose and unhelpful
  • Good to know when it is worth jumping on a call.
  • Prefer aync, but don't be pedantic if you notice it falling down
  • Thinking Out Loud
  • Post interesting things in public channels - doesn't interrupt but does allow knowledge sharing
  • Making a critical change? Post it in chat. Deliberately point out what you're doing.
  • If you've got partially through a problem, post in a chat - build trust and vulnerability.
  • This can then be leveraged when an actual crisis hits.
