#+TITLE: Learning
- Things I'd like to learn:
So many things!
Design: Frameworks for effective design, colour, typography, language of critique, Compassionate UX and generous interfaces.
Marketing/Sales: Doing this in a human way which isn't manipulative but is still effective.
Software development: Always looking to improve and grow - patterns/languages/mental models
Philosophy: I'm generally a Christian Stoic - love exploring and thinking about how our thinking shapes our worlds, thinking deeply about how we can work for equity and justice.
Storytelling: I'm an Irish man who loves a good yarn - I love playing Dungeons and Dragons and creating shared narratives - I'd love to learn how to do this more effectively, maybe more spontaneously - I have to do a lot of prep for stories and rarely remember a good story for an appropriate opportunity.
Campaigning/Advocacy: I'd love to have a better framework to know how to support causes that matter effectively. I don't want to be an armchair, social-media survey filler. Thinking deeply about BLM and how I can support the reformation of systemically racist systems is largely in my mind at the moment. I'm self-educating but I'd love to be equipped with more tools
Hobbies/party tricks: Love it all :)
Art & Film: I'm a Mathematician and often struggle with pieces in which not a lot happens. I would love to be able to appreciate slower forms of art, my visits to galleries always feel cursory - again frameworks for thinking, mental models, ways to explore and language to express thought in these areas would be helpful to explore for me.
Languages: I'm a native English speaker with very little other language experience (French to 16, Latin to 18). That makes me feel lazy and over-priveledged. I'd love to decide on a language to learn and a group to learn it with.
Nature: I'm working at the moment of learning birds from their song and trying to identify food for foraging. I'd love to journey with others on this.
Other: Seriously - I love learning and if there a group of learners around something I'm up for it :)
